Sherylcrop Hits And Rarities are promised and Hits And Rarities are what you get in the Shery Crow best-of that hits the shelves this week. The rocky ride of the former Wacko Jacko backing voxtress is perfectly encapsulated in this comprehensive compilation, where the heartworn country-rock of her debut Tuesday Night Music Club jostles with the spooky-slick pop of her self-titled follow-up. She never quite went super-massive, and why the heck not?

Crow’s high-profile collaborators – Sting, the Stones, Dylan, Willie Nelson – and nine (count 'em) grammies testifies to widespread admiration, and the carcrash lovelife (Clapton was a brief beau – or was he? – Sheryl wasn’t saying) cast a shadow that’s fed into complex and increasingly discomfiting songs. And while her more recent releases haven’t emulated the commercial peak of the ’90s, they certainly haven’t lacked for cracking tracks, as C'mon C'mon’s Soak Up The Sun and Wildflower’s title track – both here – go to show. She spent 2006 battling, then overcoming breast cancer, and splitting with cycling star Lance Armstrong. Reports suggest we can expect another full Sheryl Crow album, entitled Detours, in February. You can hear a taste of its lead-off track, the eco-centric Shine Over Babylon, here...

To win one of ten copies of the album, mail Editor@mojo4music.com with your answer to the following question.... In 1998, Crow inducted which band into the Rock’n’Roll Hall Of Fame?

a) Fleetwood Mac
b) The Rolling Stones
c) Half Man Half Biscuit
