HEAD NORTH, YOUNG MAN. MOJO GOES TO REYKJAVIK.

Salsa_celtica

This weekend MOJO heads North to the land of the ice and snow and a new alternative festival, the Reykjavik Rite of Spring.  Focusing on cutting edge Folk, Jazz and World Music, the new festival is produced by the same team as the successful Iceland Airwaves event, one of the key stepping stones to international recognition for new artists.

Acts already announced include pioneering Icelandic jazz-funksters Mezzoforte, Scottish/Latin American folk fusion Salsa Celtica, Serbian Gypsy band Kal and Brazilian bossanova gutarist Ife Tolentino.  Just enough beats to keep MOJO’s toes tapping and to stave off the frostbite.

Check the MOJO blog this weekend for the full story.

Tropicalia

Here's the latest topic in MOJO's regular How To Buy feature... What would you say are the best TROPICALIA albums? What do you think are the best examples of Brazilian chic? How can one tell one's Os Mutantes from your Gilberto Gils?

Have your say here and your comments could appear in a future issue of MOJO Magazine in the regular How To Buy section! Go to it, add a comment here and explain *why* you think the albums are worth listening to, otherwise we won't know *why* you've picked them...
